Mitch Berger
WOW! Thirty years ago I was on a wet soggy football field in North Delta helping my good friend Don Berger, head coach of the North Delta Pee Wee football team. The runnig back was my son Dean and the quarterback and kicker was a nice young man, Mitch Berger. The two boys grew up together, and played on the same teams right up to high school at Holy Cross. There were many nights I saw Don working with his son practising his punting and field goal kicking. Don, his wife Evelyn, and I are still good friends. Today some one brought me the sports section of the Vancouver Sun. The front page article is a story and pictures of Mitch and his family. The entire family will be going to Tampa Florida to watch Mitch play as the kicker for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLlll. This is like a fairy tale. You see, Don was born and raised in Pittsburgh and has been a diehard Steelers Fan all his life. GO STEELERS GO.
